LEAGUE INFO

Have a question about leagues? Get in touch with the relevant league rep on TeamApp or with our head of football Paula!

TRAINING

If you can help with carrying equipment to training please drop a message in the Ball Collecting chat on TeamApp when you sign up. The address is 2 Moye Close, E2 8QN... just a stones throw from the pitches (and the pub afterwards).

TRAINING FEEDBACK

⚽️ Reminder from Coach Josh: we've got a feedback form where you can let us know your thoughts on training. Feel free to send this either straight after a session, or when it suits you during the week. ⚽️

👉 You can also feedback specifically on our all-abilities tournaments: We started doing all ability training tournaments a year ago. The idea was to provide opportunities for everyone in the club to meet each other and to reinforce our non-ability ethos. We wanted to check in about how you all found the training tournament two weeks ago. Please feedback here if you have any thoughts or comments, including if you enjoyed!

BIKES AT TRAINING

The people working at Haggerston Park want us to know that there's no cctv on the street bike racks so best to find another spot to lock up.

COMMS SEC ROLE

Last chance for someone to join the committee as our Comms Sec. Please apply – we’d love to have you! Deadline is on Wednesday 28th September.

Being on the GDFC committee is incredibly rewarding. Its a great way to meet new people in the club and shape how this amazing club grows.

The job descriptions for the role is posted in 'News' in the app. If its sounds like something you’d be interested in please email info@goaldiggersfootballclub.com. If you do join us there will be a 2 month handover period while you get to know the role.

KIT KITTY

AT GDFC we want to make sure there’s as little as possible preventing you from playing football. For any members that need any financial help towards buying new boots / kit / transport costs etc, we have a kitty to help out. Just get in touch with Gaia at membership@goaldiggersfootballclub.com!

COMMUNITY CORNER

This section is reserved for anyone in the club who has stuff they want to share (job posting, events, other cool opportunities -- whatever!) If you ever want to add anything to this section just email press@goaldiggersfootballclub.com and put 'NEWSLETTER' in the subject line.

PLAYER SHOUT-OUTS

TRAINING

Thanks to our coaches for another great session on Wednesday !

TUESDAY CLUBS UNITED

Over to Captain Nina for the match report: It might sound wild to describe a 9-5 loss as a close game, but every Digger dug so deep and we can hold our heads high for a great team performance. Just after the first half there was only a goal in it, and I was proud to be captaining a team that went all out for a win no matter the result! We grew into the game and pushed Stonewall FC every step of the way. We scored some great goals from all-round the pitch, including a well taken penalty by Raff and a cheeky shot by the keeper. May was our player of the match, for some solid defending and making excellent runs up top. Let’s go for game 3! Photo by Fozz.

SUNDAY 7s

No pics :( but some lovely words on Sunday's 7s games: Over to Paula: In the Advanced Division All Stars lost 2-1 to Inter FC with Moni scoring a screamer of an equaliser but unfortunately a wicked bounce deceived Lorraine for the winner. Then the Derby finished 3-0 to Legends with Binal scoring twice and River adding another. The final game saw the Legends pitched against top of the table Brazuka who were unbeaten all season. Magnificent defending all round and safe hands from player of the day Louise in goal kept the opposition at bay setting up a grandstand Goal Diggers finish as pass down the right found Ally in space who, with a pinpoint pass, picked out Binal who tucked the ball delightfully inside the keeper’s far post. The last few minutes saw Legends fend off some determined Brazuka attacks but Goals remained resolute to cement themselves in 3rd spot in the table.

River's round up: Legends player of the match was keeper Louise who worked hard to keep the team in the game during the win against Brazuka United. Captain Ally praised her ability to build up play from the back with excellent distribution. Football was the winner in the famous GDFC Derby between Legends and All Stars.
