We’re back from our summer break and ready to hit the ground running. Our 40+ session is perfect for women and non-binary folks who are a bit older than the usual Goal Diggers FC member (around 20-35). PLEASE share with anyone who might be interested, whether they’re a beginner or an advanced player. We just need ~5 more to make it a great session.

📅 When: 14th September 2024

⏰ Time: 14:00 – 15:30

2. Goal’s Birthday Celebration! 🎂

Next Friday, we’re celebrating Goal’s birthday, and we want you there to join the fun! Get your tickets and raffle entries (even if you can’t make it) to support our amazing community.

3. Leagues Restarting! ⚽

Exciting news – many leagues are restarting, and some have even opened up to the whole club! Check out TeamApp under ‘Events’ to see what’s available. If you can see it, you can be (in) it!

4. Major Savings on the Horizon! 💸

We’re thrilled to announce that Fleur has successfully secured a Community Use Agreement for Haggerston Pitch! This fantastic achievement is likely to save us over £6k annually. Stay tuned for more details and targets that we need to reach as part of the agreement.

GDFC FUNDRAISING CALENDAR

Our very own BTG is hard at work creating a 2025 GDFC Calendar! The aim is to raise some much-needed funds while showcasing the amazing community we've built. She’s working on a tight budget, so any help you can offer (organising, delivery, etc.) would be super appreciated. If you're keen to pitch in, give Becky a shout!

FUNDRAISING QUEER SPORTS ZINE

We’re collaborating with six other awesome queer sports clubs that share our ethos of “availability, not ability” and inclusion for all in sport. This includes Knockout, Queer Surf Club, Queer Running Club, Queers on Wheels, and Queer Climbers LDN.

Together, we’re working on a zine that will raise funds for Mermaids. It’ll feature photos of members (if you’d like to be involved, let us know!), Q&As with organisers, and a manifesto about what inclusive sports spaces can look like. Expect some fun social crossovers and a big end-of-year celebration too!

PLAYER SHOUT-OUTS

CLUBS UNITED (SAT 7 SEPTEMBER)

First week of the new season and what a lovely morning it was!

Unfortunately for us, our opponents failed to materialise…so we ended up having a kickabout between us.

Shoutout to Shiv who scored some absolute belters, the doggos for winning the potm medals and to Britt, Celia and Scotty for helping out Shepherds Booters as super subs

Check out our pics from the day here!

TUESDAY 7S

It was a very wet Tuesday evening but we managed to stay positive and play an amazing game if football winning 1-0 to east Finchley - a second clean sheet! What an incredible start to the season. Shout out to Lorraine for stunning saves but POTM goes to Annabel for their remarkable runs and being everywhere on the pitch!

THURSDAY GOALPOSTS LEAGUE

The final Thursday 5s of the league! Goaldigger v Wildflowers who were going for the cup title so made us work!

We didn't make it easy for them though and despite losing the match, the play was end to end throughout

Millie's elite footwork scored us two goals earning her the supporters player of the match. Captains POTM went to Chey for their enthusiasm and the huge effort they put in also massive shout-out to Elaine for stepping in as last minute goalie

See you next league Goals!!
