PLAYER SHOUT-OUTS

Thursday 5s (18 July)

We started off with an unfortunate injury leaving us a sub short on a very hot evening at Haggerston. We played well and defence was solid but then unfortunately we conceded a few before half time. Before we knew it though we went from 3-0 down to 3-2 and all was to play for (after two great goals from Antoinette)!! The game ended 4-2 but everyone put in 110%, great vibes all around. Antoinette was Captain Nicola and Fan Rachel POTM for their stunning play, effort and finishes

Saturday Clubs Utd (20 July)

An early start for us on Saturday morning, but GDFC came with some serious energy. The first half started with some tired legs, but with the help of some half time tactics we managed to get 3 past Depford Daverns, with 3 different goal scorers! Kidesh and Celia were a solid defensive pair, Sam and Julia played some beautiful football, resulting in an unstoppable goal! POTM this week though, went to our keeper, Suzie! Whist having minimal sight of the ball (forgot their contacts), they still managed to make some amazing saves and even had some fancy foot work to dribble around the Deptford Raverns striker!

Saturday Friendly vs. Girls Aloud (20 July)

On Saturday morning we pitched up at Victoria Park to try and secure a space for a friendly with Goals Aloud (their first ever!). Although all the proper pitches were in use, we managed to lay some cones out on a patch of grass nearby. Austerity measures at GDFC in action!

Goals Aloud were a worthy opponent and managed to beat us soundly - I think the final score was 5-3 but the vibes were 10/10 and we recruited some MOZF attendees at the pub after. They gave Rachel their POTM for some great saves and even better comms to the team.

Not pictured in the group shot - J, who came straight from Clubs United to play a heroic double header of football and scored two early goals, turned their foot on the grass and headed off before the game ended.

Monday 5s (22 July)

A great match on Monday, where we didn’t win but played some great football against an extremely skilled team.

POTM was Maeve for a great show in defence, some excellent interceptions and blocks, without which the final score could have looked very different!

Two truths and a lie from Antoinette - number three is the lie - they didn't grow up in Hackney, they are from Ealing and went to secondary school with SJ!
