GDFC News 21 March

Haggerston has confirmed we’ll be back training on Wednesday 31st of March! Can’t wait to see you there!

Please come to our Return to Football Zoom AGM next Thursday @ 7:30pm and refresh your memory on our covid code of conduct & our gender inclusivity explainer, both found in the ‘Docs’ section of TeamApp, before we return.

Remember to check you are in the ‘Membership H1 2021’ access group to be able to sign up for football. See details in the newsletter published on 28/02. As always get in touch with if you have any queries.

You should all have received a calendar invite this weekend inviting you to our return to football AGM next Thursday on Zoom at 7:30pm.

Thanks so much to everyone that filled out our return to football survey. It was clear that a lot of people put a lot of time and effort into their responses which we are really grateful for. A lot of people have mentioned things that we already identified we need to work on as a club, but there were also lots of things that we had not thought of yet so all of the data is really useful. We will be running through the results from the survey in our AGM next week.

New leagues:

Tuesday 7s is provisionally coming back on the 30th of May. This will be a new league, so as soon as it’s confirmed it will be available to purchase on the store.

We’re also joining a brand new Academy Sunday 5s league, at Colombo centre in Southwark. It’s quite a short one, running from the 18th of April to the 30th of May. This is the perfect league for you if you want to get your first GDFC match experience or you want something casual after lockdown. Once it’s all confirmed we’ll add it to the store. If anyone has any questions about joining this league, please message Mat Godfrey (Martha Godfrey on teamapp).

Returning leagues:

Both of the Super5 leagues in Mabley Green and the La Liga Sunday 7s league in Archbishops Park will be finishing off the seasons started before lockdown. If you want to join any of these leagues for the last few games of the season and weren’t part of them before, they are up on the store now for a discounted price.

Cancelled Leagues:

Sadly both Saturday 11s leagues have been voided, as the clapham common pitches turn into cricket pitches over summer, and there was no time for the season to finish. A huge congratulations to both teams for having a fantastic season, and we go again in September! In the meantime, team Mat will be organising some casual derbies and friendlies, to fill that Saturday 11s football gap, so keep your eyes peeled for that (if you’re in the very experienced team, you may want to keep the 11th of April free...).

If you have anything you would like to feature in next week's newsletter, email by 12:00 Sunday.
