The Tuesday league itself is still on hold, but there's a tournament this week and there are 2 friendlies next week so keep eyes on ( note the new post time and date is Thursday at 5.30 pm!).

We're welcoming the final 10 new players this week! Please be super welcoming to them.

Your committee are also going to be popping into sessions to do a refresh on gender inclusive language and how we can all make this an inclusive space.

Hello! My name is JulieAnn (she/her) and I am a MSc Medical Anthropology student at UCL. For my dissertation project I am looking at health inequalities experienced by women and non-binary footballers in the UK.

I'm looking to interview about 4-6 people about their experiences in UK football culture and was wondering if any of the Goal Diggers might be willing to be interviewed. I can be reached at or you can register interest through this form -

Thank you so much!

A huge shout out to Social Sec Shiv & Social Sec Hannah-Lily who have both been incredible committee signings! From bank hol boogies to Bethnal Green Working Men's Club - these two know how to perfect a goals night out. AND they've got more exciting socials planned - check your team app calendar for upcoming socials such as Trans Pride, Brighton Pride & Portugoal Friday Night Football & Welcome Drinks!

PLUS Thursday night was all about raising money for Friends Of Joiners Arms - donate & read more about them here:

Thanks again to Paula for the Monday night booking! We had a truly delightful derby with end to end football & incredible skills from all. Players of the Week were Hannah May, Fleur & Anna - congrats all. AND congrats to Chloe B who rescued the ball from a gated area using a crafty stick xox

CLUBS UNITED GOALS Hannah May says "They played unbelievably well, winning 7-3. Several of the team are new to Diggers or returning after some time out and they were brilliant! No one panicked on the ball, everyone was getting heads up and making passes and all the goals were absolute crackers. I was so impressed, when the beginners from my time of starting were at that stage we were losing 18-0 It was super hard to chose a POTM but Freya just won out for some great movement off the ball and for scoring some excellent goals."

Well done all!

Over at Whittinton Park, Ally Temple reported on the games:

"So the tournament.... We won both of our group games 1-0 including (including a great first game v east Finchley) then another 1-0 in the semis. A nail-biting final v tambo rec went to pens where sadly they came out on top. But this truly was a fantastic diggers display with everyone deserving player of the match and a shout out: Paula's great distribution and crucial blocks, Esther's indefatigable sprinting down the wing, tenacious tackling from Katherine, Olivia drove the team with her energy and an assist from a throw; excellent touches and chips from Lorraine and a stunning emphatic pen from Anna. We may not have a trophy but we had lots of fun!"

Training huns of the last two weeks were Jay, Flo, Nadia, Moni, Paula, Jess & Kideshini.

Another goalorious magical return of Coach Chloe Morgan (!) - who awarded her Player of The Week to Paula - the perfect way to celebrate Paula's one year anniversary at GDFC!

Shout out to Josh for managing two sessions with such skill!

Gorgeous sunny Sunday vibes this week with a tasty 6 points hoovered up by both All Stars & Legends. This brings them into 2nd & 3rd place with only two weeks of the league left!

See the league stats here:

Captain Kim's Player Of The Week was the one & only K8 the TeamM8 aka K8 the Gr8! She dug oh so deep - with tasty assists and goals galore!

Legends Player Of The Week was Paula The Baller who was fearless in goal - keeping the Clapham Wasps at bay with her amazing keeping & giving All Stars a real battle. Two POTW stickers for Paula in one week!

All Stars Player Of The Week was Fleur for her 5 goals - but a true team game from the all stars today. 6 tough points gained due to great team play, beautiful triangles & tasty shots. Shout out to Hannah Wallace who put the "Wall into Wallace" with her amazing keeping against Canaries. And shout out to Kim for her amazing captaining.

PLUS big shout out to new goal Ellie Bacon - who twinkled her toes for Legends in her first Sunday 5s game. Some amazing goals & a fabulous back heel assist to Holly Jolly Burton.

A very happy Sunday. The Advanced league has one more week left & the intermediate league is complete.

Both leagues restart on July 10th (and lasts until mid Oct!) - so pop the date in your diary now and keep your eye on the store for the league purchase.
