GET TO KNOW A GOAL!

Our new feature where we introduce you to a new Goal each week - meet one of our new Newsletter secs, Emma!

Meet Emma (she/her)

Where do you play?

The classic 'Bend it like Beckham' question which I still don't know what the right answer is so I'll do both.

Location - Advanced group at training, the side of the pitch where you get throw-ins at Finsbury Park 5s, dropping in on Sundays whenever I can

Position - like to think of myself as the Patrick Bamford of East London - lots of effort up front with very few goals to show for it

Favourite memory at GDFC?

Scoring in a weird 4 team penalty shootout at Sunday 7s and winning 50 quid to spend in the pub and also every time Laura HH attempted a bicycle kick.

Would you like to feature in a future edition of get to know a goal? Send your answers to the above questions to press@goaldiggersfootballclub.com.

PLAYER SHOUT-OUTS

CLUBS UNITED (8 June)

Clubs United returned with a bang on Saturday morn with Goaldiggers FC vs FC Goaldiggers.

It was verrry evenly matched with a lot of chances created by both teams, but both keepers managed to keep clean sheets with the help of their gorgeous teammates! Everyone is was excellent, but special shoutouts to Jess and Maeve defending like true champs.

The Clubs United POTM (given to FC Goaldiggers by Goaldiggers FC) went to J for keeping us on our toes and making stunning runs. POTM for Goaldiggers FC went to Molly for amazing footwork and shots on goal.

And a huge thank you to Adam for managing the league particularly now that we’re fielding two teams! Please sign up for gorgeous queer Saturday morn fun xx

PARIS TOURNAMENT (8 June)

On Saturday, committee and volunteers were invited to Paris to play in Schlag Fest. Player of the day was Lilly for her debut GDFC goal (it was gorgeous) and for bringing all the right vibes to her team despite not speaking any french. Player of the night was Martha ;)

MONDAY 5s (10 June)

A great match against Judas FC on Monday at Finsbury Park, while we didn't win, the vibes were 10/10 and POTM went to Anna who made an incredible return to GDFC after her mat leave, playing up front and running all over the pitch!

TUESDAY 7s (11 June)

Captain Lucy gave Gaia potm this week for !scoring! a goal! We had some really beautiful patches of play and were unlucky not to get a better result. We go again!

WEDNESDAY TRAINING (12 June)

What a sky! Well done to Aimee, Sacha, Izzy and Niamh!
