MOZF
MOZF is back 30th August in a new venue! We are moving away from the yard so the next MOZF is at Signature Brew Haggerston (more info on future MOZF venue below).
Tickets will go on sale to goals only at 10am on Friday before going live to the public at 10am on Saturday. The venue is slightly smaller than the yard so make sure you get your tickets quick so you don't miss out!
We're also looking for a debut DJ to take the decks so let Saba know if you're keen!
MOZF is a key fundraiser for GDFC so we need to be selling out every event. It is really helpful for us when you like/engage/SHARE our posts on IG, tell your friends & tell the world about MOZF so please do!
NEW MOZF VENUE
We’re on the search for a new venue for MOZF because we’re moving away from The Yard and thought the GDFC hive mind could help!
Our requirements are:
• Wheelchair accessible (including toilets)
• Gender Neutral toilets
• Capacity approx 200-300
• Queer friendly venue with queer friendly security and staff
• Not expensive - ideally no fee other than bar minimum spend
• Decent dance area and decent outside area— late closing time
If you have any ideas pls post in this google doc: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1iVTb1D22x42g-9arFH_ezasUNreVb9rmqqjexeT-ZM0/edit?usp=sharing
PLAYER SHOUT-OUTS
Beginners 5s Haggerston School (4 July)
Was a super fun and competitive game against No Sorry Sisters FC !! A loss 5-3 but THREE iconic goals from Millie, Ramune and Dan :) Captains POTM was Georgia for amazing communication throughout and great hold up play. Fans POTM was Millie for great attacking play and her iconic goal.
Saturday Clubs Utd (6 July)
Captain Beth’s POTM for GDFC after their 0-0 draw against Hells Bells was Elaine for repeatedly putting her body on the line in defence, her undefeatable can do attitude, and her emotional support when Beth’s left buttocks received two smacks from a ball in quick succession…
And FCGD battled through the Saturday morning rain to pull off a confident 8-4 win against Shepherd’s Booters. Florrie was a consistent threat in the box, Sam made beautiful runs up the wing, and Jess delivered on her classic long-range goals from the back.
Booters gave us a run for our money after half time, with 3 goals in quick succession, but FCDG dug deep and pulled a win out of the bag.
Captain Ruby’s POTM was Maeve for her calm defence and for scoring the unofficial goal of the game, a screamer of a finish following some glorious passing play with Sam. Special shout-out also to HL who stepped up in goal and made some heroic saves.
Sunday Beginners 5s (7 July)
Sunday beginner 5s at Columbo centre - Millie player of the match. Great in goal and great up top with one of our only goals and an assist (the other stunning goal from Hope) :))
Sunday 8s (8 July)
Captain's Player of the Match went to Rachel for an absolutely heroic performance in goal. It was a gladiatorial stand-off against a relentless Bayern Munchies attacking line and Rachel dug deep, never stopped fighting, and pulled off some incredible saves.
Fans' Player of the Match was Sam for phenomenal hustle and all-around play in central midfield. Sam was our glue, tirelessly tracking back and nearly scoring with a fiery shot from well outside the box.
Monday FINSBURY PARK 5s (8 July)
Captain Beth’s POTM went to league newbie Gem for playing every position on the pitch, including goalie, bringing the good vibes, borrowing some football boots (shout out to Beth’s ethos of the week Isy Wilson for cycling over with them), and doing some superb defending at the back. Squeezes and smiles all round.
Monday Beginners 5s Chobham (8 July)
Was an iconic but very rainy match at Chobham against our faves Goals Aloud. A 5-1 defeat but all played amazing and never stopping running (and sliding). POTM was Maine for their amazing defensive play and making some essential blocks.
Tuesday 7s (9 July)
Unfortunately we lost our final game of the season to East Finchley however, it was a great game and we worked extremely hard!!! Thank you Katy for being the best captain and giving directions on and off the pitch and bringing us together as a team! Well done Alice for her first Tuesday 7s who played brilliantly! POTM has to go to Sam for, as always, being everywhere on the pitch and also amazing goal keeping. Well done team and we will beat them next season!!
