LEAGUE INFO

Have a question about leagues? Get in touch with the relevant league rep on TeamApp or with our head of football Paula! **No game this Tuesday at Whittington as we have a blank week**

TRAINING

If you can help with carrying equipment to training please drop a message in the Ball Collecting chat on TeamApp when you sign up. The address is 2 Moye Close, E2 8QN... just a stones throw from the pitches (and the pub afterwards).

TRAINING FEEDBACK

⚽️ Reminder from Coach Josh: we've got a feedback form where you can let us know your thoughts on training. Feel free to send this either straight after a session, or when it suits you during the week. ⚽️

👉 You can also feedback specifically on our all-abilities tournaments: We started doing all ability training tournaments a year ago. The idea was to provide opportunities for everyone in the club to meet each other and to reinforce our non-ability ethos. We wanted to check in about how you all found the training tournament two weeks ago. Please feedback here if you have any thoughts or comments, including if you enjoyed!

GDFC PARTY - 21st OCTOBER - PERFORMER SIGN UP

We are thrilled to announce we have many incredible DJs & performances confirmed for our GDFC PARTY on Friday 21st Oct. We can't wait!

Now it's time for YOU to join us on the BGWMC (downstairs) stage for a GDFC cabaret extravaganza.

This is very much an availability over ability situation... you don't need to have any performance experience - the aim is for a bit of silly fun before our DJs hit the decks. We're talking drag, lip syncs, singing, karaoke, speeches, spoken word, dance, juggling, kick-ups, a tambourine solo... the aim is to impress Goal on their seventh birthday.

The sign up closes THIS Friday (14th Oct) - so please add your name to the following google doc before then:

(ps if you're struggling to click on this please follow the tips at the bottom of this newsletter)

KIT KITTY

PLAYER SHOUT-OUTS

TUESDAY CLUBS UNITED

Words from Captain Beth: Another very fun week at Clubs United this Tuesday. Thanks to some fancy footwork and quick reactions from player of the match May we started out with a hat-trick lead. Goals Aloud were not to be underestimated though and managed to put up a good fight. Ultimately we came out victorious with a strong scoresheet to boot. Big thanks to the fans Kate & Fleur who cheered us on.

SATURDAY FRIENDLY 11S

Fleur's roundup: Thanks to everyone who played friendly 11s this Saturday - the vibes were gorgeous and the football was beautiful. Shout out to Coach Rosanna & Coach Amy for adding such clarity, confidence and calmness to the matches. The next friendly with be Sat Nov 5th - keep your eyes on the newsletter for more details and remember to set your alarms for Mon 31st Oct at 7.30pm. This league (like all our leagues) is a first come, first served team app sign up. Availability over ability. One team, one dream.

💕⚽💕⚽💕

Exp 11s Players of The Week: Hannah-Lily, May & Moni. The fans picked Moni due to her dominance on the wing, Coach Rosanna picked Hannah-Lily due to their solid play in defence and Captain Kate picked May due to her hard work in the middle. Gorgeous play all round!

11-A-Side Friendly - Player's of The Match: Nina, J & Abi!

The fans picked Nina due to her incredible keeping, J was Captain Beth's pick due to their all round excellence and Abi was Coach Amy's due to her fabulous goal!

SUNDAY 7S

Paula's roundup: Mixed fortunes for the GDFC Legends this afternoon as the battle for third spot in the Ladies Super Liga continues to enthral all. Welcoming back Hannah Wallace, a defender as solid as Scottish granite and as unyielding as the girders of the Forth Bridge, the Legends opened their games with a 1-0 over Inter FC. The only goal came early on as Millie ghosted in at the far post to finish off a low ball across goal from Garcia. Though Legends failed to add to their tally, the defence remained ever solid with few chances allowed for the opposition to worry Paula in goal. It was a different story in the second game with Canaries creating a number of chances to keep the defence on their toes. Paula (she writes very modestly!) made a number of top drawer saves to keep Canaries at bay but was finally beaten in unfortunate fashion when a close range shot ricocheted off her chest & into the net. The second goal was a little bizarre to say the least with Canaries taking advantage of the lack of offsides as Paula came out to the edge of her box to narrow the angle on an onrushing attacker. Rather than shooting the Canary slipped the ball wide to her teammate waiting by the goal line to tap home the second goal. It was a frustrating defeat but one with plenty of positives. Top of the list was Hannah’s return, that performance deservedly getting the Player of the Day nod from captain Ally.

Captain Fleur says: All Stars had a fantastic week - 6 points and endless triangles. We love to see it. Player of the Match was Kim - who was so calm & controlled in defence and always looked for possession when playing out from the back.

Merch Love - a reminder that this gorge piece of Lily Grant merchandise (modelled by Coach Ciara) is on sale - head to our website to purchase.
