SHOUT-OUTS

TUESDAY 7S

Captain Flo: Paula scored a stunning goal in our 1-1 draw! She also hit the bar! She also played both games even tho she hurt her finger really badly. A trooper!

More from the player of the match herself: The Very Experienced team had a tough opener against the seriously misnamed “Hardly Athletic” who proved to be anything but in a feisty encounter. Our goalkeeper (modesty forbids me naming her) was kept seriously busy until forced off with a rather gruesome injury. Thankfully Nina was on hand to take over between the sticks whilst Paula received treatment. Unfortunately just before the break the opposition made their breakthrough to take the lead. However the second half saw Goal Diggers firing on all cylinders, equalising when Maddy’s determined run was capped with a beautiful pinpoint pass for Emma to bravely polish off at the far post. The winner came courtesy of Player of the Match River’s battling run in on goal and a sublime finish sidefooting the ball wide of the ‘keeper into the far bottom corner.

Paula continues: The Experienced team saw a number of new and returning faces all playing a part in a hard fought draw with our old Nemeses from East Finchley. Lily making her debut proved a real powerhouse in midfield but it was out opponents who had the better of goalless first half with our defence proving miserly in the opportunities allowed. After she had earlier hit crossbar we took the lead when Paula escaped some seriously attentive marking to pounce on a loose ball in the box and tuck the ball wide of the keeper. It looked like Goal Diggers were going to hold on to a famous victory late East Finchley told and they sneaked an equaliser right at the death.

TRAINING

This week's players of the week were Emma, for a glorious strike, Beth, for putting everything from the drills into practice, Jo, for getting it and Hannah for being just so good! Well done all and thank you coaches!

SUNDAY FOOTBALL

POTW Kenza for an absolutely phenomenal display in goal today, stopping all kinds of shots and great distribution in intermediate 5’s

All Stars POTM:

Saba was POTM this week - playing outfield with such style - reading the game so well and make crucial tackles. What can't Saba do?!

Legends POTM:

Skipper River awarded POTM to The Indomitable Esther Jones Russell. Her player IQ was unmatched - knowing when to make attacking runs or stay back to make critical tackles. She's always a delight to watch.
