We’ve got our last new members joining us this week at training. Please welcome them to the club!

We also need ALL members to bring their playing shirt with them to training. We need to collect these to add New Balance branding to them before returning them next week. Please BRING YOUR SHIRT (don’t wear it) and we will have labels for adding names. Please do NOT FORGET !

ALSO what a bloody treat for you keepers! Wednesday 10th August + Wednesday 24th August there will be GK sessions with Chloe Morgan. Remember to renew your membership! Be more Earps!

A reminder to all diggers to make sure they renew their membership for the second half of 2022. Membership renewal will close at the end of August. Unless you have specifically been in touch with Gaia, you won’t be able to buy membership until next year after this time!

Help a goal out and buy membership today!

AT GDFC we want to make sure there’s as little as possible preventing you from playing football. For any members that need any financial help towards buying new boots / kit / transport costs etc, we have a kitty to help out. Just get in touch with Gaia at!

Can't thank our Social Secs, DJs and Flo Pollock's horn enough for the stunning Euros Finals watch party. We raised a huge £529. Thanks so much goals xoxo

Season Zine editorial (details below from casting agent Lucy Howell):

I am currently working on the main editorial (10-12pages) in the next print issue of Season Zine, happeningon 6th August. The photographer is Vic Lentaigne and the stylist Nathan Henry. Portraits shot by Vic will run alongside interviews with those photographed, interviews will be conducted by a trans/non-binary journalist. (Journalist currently TBC) There will also be a short video made to accompany the article. Vic is a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community and passionate about football. Vic wants to use the story to give trans, non-binary, and gender non-conforming people visibility and a platform to talk about their experiences in football. Celebrating the diversity that exists within football which is so often overlooked. We are looking for trans, non-binary, and gender non-conforming people who are part of the football community at any level to participate. See shoot details below.

Gaia reports: A great last minute chance to get ready for the season. Everyone did so well to keep going for 90 minutes with just one sub (thank you Hope!!). Captain River (she's back!) scored a beautiful goal and there were some great moments in play for the diggers.

Player of the match has to go to GK Paula for an unbelievable number of saves!

Well done to all the players for real pace power and a fantastic attitude!

Captain River reports: GDFC put together 12 players who's presence at their home ground struck fear not only among the Clapton Women's First Team but also the 30 or more supporters who remained after the men's first team friendly which preceded the main attraction of the afternoon. Despite the gruelling conditions and home field advantage, GDFC put up a fight to be proud of. As with so many Goal Diggers matches, the score-line didn't reflect the quality of football on display, and there is contention over the recorded final score of 14-1. Goal keeper Paula won player of the match having made spectacular diving saves on a pitch which had become as hard as concrete after weeks of dry conditions. Blood and sweat were a feature of the afternoon, but no tears, as even though we went through hell and back, we were all smiles after the match. It was a great kick off to the 11s season so please sign up for September #justkeepdigging

Players of the week for training this week were Susanne, Georgia and Beth! Thanks for a lovely session
