GDFC News 08 November

LOCKDOWN CALENDAR

Goals! It is heartbreakingly sad that Coronavirus will once again be keeping us apart from each other physically. However, we remain the strong resilient community we have always been and want to be there to support each other through these tough times. Below are our initial ideas for our lockdown events and groups, if there is anything else you think would add value to the community please email info@goaldiggersfootballclub.com.

Lily Grant Drawing Class - Sunday 22nd November - 6-7.30pm

We are thrilled to announce that Artist Lily Grant will be treating all members to a zoom drawing class! Come with many sheets of paper and a pencil - you’re also welcome to bring any medium you like to work with, the only requirement is that it has to make a mark on paper. The theme of the drawing class will be announced nearer the time!

MOZF – Saturday 28th November

MOZF will be back, bringing your favourite anthems direct into your living room. Dust off your disco balls (looking at you Holly Burton) and your dancing shoes, and we’ll see you on Zidane’s floor once more. This should bring in some much-needed funds for the club, so please come along and donate!

Coaching zoom sessions - TBC

We will be relaunching our coaching zoom sessions to give you some tips and tricks to work on to ready yourself for the next season.

Kit Workshop - DATE TBC

The fantastic Lily grant will take us through her ideas and progress for her new kit design.

Bingo-al Social - Wednesday 18th November

Social Secs Beth and Ellen will be running an online bingo-al (get it? you’re right… it needs work) social, as well as a raffle, with some awesome prizes to win! More details on these to be announced soon. Get your bingo daubers ready, Diggers!

GDFC online running community

Club sec Millie will be starting an online running group for those that want to run with others or just have a group to support them with their goals.

As it is still early days the committee are working hard to finalise the plans/dates so keep an eye out on team app and the weekly newsletter to stay up to date.

GDFC MAG SUBMISSIONS

Submissions are now open for GDFC Mag issue 3! The theme for this issue is What’s Your Pitch?, which we encourage you to interpret as widely or as closely as you please. The big news for us this year has been getting Haggerston Pitch, our new training ground! We want to use this issue to reflect on our campaign for space in the football community and other issues stemming from this - whether it's your individual struggle finding a place to play during lockdown, or a bigger struggle like trans folks fighting for space in politics in the US election . We would love to hear your pitch! The deadline for submissions will be Friday 27th November.

If you have any ideas or would like to contribute to issue 3 as a writer or an illustrator, please email me at mag@goaldiggersfootballclub.com.

A reminder that GDFC Mag is written for and by the community. Everyone is welcome to contribute, regardless of experience. You can read our previous issues here: https://www.goaldiggersfootballclub.com/store.
