GDFC News 02 November

This week we have a 2 hour keeper training with Coach Chloe, a 2 hour advanced training session with Coach Josh and 1 hour sessions (academy (7-8), intermediate (7-8) & advanced (8-9) with Coach Ciara.

TCO London are filming the training on Wednesday 4 November at Haggerston Park. This will form content for a short documentary style film sponsored by Direct Line Insurance and will be broadcast on Channel 4 as well as online and on social media channels.

They are giving us a very generous donation to take part in this exciting story about people bettering their local community. This money will help towards covering the huge loss of our MOZF fundraising money and subsidising our new training pitch. In December we will publish a financial update on our in-goings and out-goings for this membership block.

The release form is attached below and we will sign it on your behalf unless you let us know you do not wish to be filmed. Essentially the release form grants the Production (TCO London) to film, edit and distribute the footage for the above use.

If anyone does not want to be filmed if they can make themselves known to Anastasia on TeamApp by Wednesday so we can ensure we do not film them.

We are very excited to announce that the winner of the Grant Officer election was the one and only Rachel Field. Rachel will be joining the committee this week to get started with some all important grant applications and fundraising ideas. If you see any grants that we would qualify for please send them her way or drop an email to and they will be passed on.

Goals! It is heartbreakingly sad that Coronavirus will once again be keeping us apart from each other physically. However, we remain the strong resilient community we have always been and want to be there to support each other through these tough times. Below are our initial ideas for our lockdown events and groups, if there is anything else you think would add value to the community please email

MOZF – Saturday 28th November

MOZF will be back, bringing your favourite anthems direct into your living room. Dust off your disco balls (looking at you Holly Burton) and your dancing shoes, and we’ll see you on Zidane’s floor once more. This should bring in some much-needed funds for the club, so please come along and donate!

Coaching zoom sessions - TBC

We will be relaunching our coaching zoom sessions to give you some tips and tricks to work on to ready yourself for the next season.

Kit Workshop - TBC

The fantastic Lily grant will take us though her ideas and progress for her new kit design

Bingo-al Social - Wednesday 18th November

Social Secs Beth and Ellen will be running an online bingo-al (get it? you’re right… it needs work) social, as well as a raffle, with some awesome prizes to win! More details on these to be announced soon. Get your bingo daubers ready, Diggers!

GDFC online running community

Club sec Millie will be starting an online running group for those that want to run with others or just have a group to support them with their goals.

As it is still early days the committee are working hard to finalise the plans/dates so keep an eye out on team app and the weekly newsletter to stay up to date.

Looking for a one-bed flat in Finsbury Park, directly underneath a flat made up of Goal Diggers? LOOK NO FURTHER. La Kingsbeer & Beth Miles live above a delightful one-bed garden flat on Blackstock Road, that has just become available to rent. They would LOVE for it to be Diggers pals who move in to make their communal garden / veg plot / shared-ownership cat and/or dog dreams come true. Will you be the one to do it? The SpareRoom link is here.

If you have anything you would like to feature in next week's newsletter, email by 12:00 Sunday.
